When Hussain al Nowais was still young, he and his siblings saw the struggles of their parents. And now that their lives have already improved, it is evident how much they earned through their sacrifices.
According to him, purified drinking water was a luxurious kind of water for them while only a few can afford to have an air conditioner. Hussain al Nowais even compared Abu Dhabi to a village that is deserted back then. His family stays in Corniche before, and Al Husn was the former name of its centre.
The insufficiency of school’s in Abu Dhabi was the reason why Al Nowais went to Qatar to study.There was a norm before that people leave Abu Dhabi and go to Saudi Arabia or Qatar to get out from a difficult kind of life.
When Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan became president of UAE, a lot of families have returned, including the family of Al Nowais. When they came back, their family was blessed after Al Nowai’s grandfather became a foodstuff and material trader instead of remaining from his past job as a pearl merchant. Their family managed to become a trade organisation after that.
Al Nowais continued schooling in the United States of America after finishing high school in his beloved place, Abu Dhabi.
He has shown great strength and optimism after graduating with a business administration degree in the U.S. by going back to UAE in order to practice his skills. In 1978, Al Nowais was known to be one out of few who was able to study outside UAE and was able to successfully communicate with businessmen from different countries.
With his outstanding capabilities as a leader, he has successfully made their business fly, which finally became a famous distributing, manufacturing, trading, and contracting company. He even recalled how we build everything almost from nothing.
When his career was still trying to grow, one event that he considers as the turning point was when he got a contract for a department in the government in supplying equipment for electrical use.
The reason why Al Nowais is successful in his career is that he improved his knowledge and skills regularly.
Al Nowais was even clever enough to think that it is good to have a food business when the Gulf War began. By acquiring businesses that are already failing, he found ways to restructure and make them rise again.
Even up to this very day, he is still showing everyone in the whole wide world how possible it is to succeed for such a long time.
